EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AS A BASIS FOR DEVELOPING LEADERSHIP SKILLS IN STUDENTS

Abstract. This article explores the role of emotional intelligence (EI) as a key component in the development of leadership qualities in students. Emotional intelligence encompasses self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and social skills, which are foundational to effective leadership. The article provides a detailed analysis of how EI influences the ability to manage emotions, resolve conflicts, motivate teams, and make well-informed decisions. Special attention is given to the importance of EI in creating a positive atmosphere within teams, building trust-based relationships, and adapting to change. Emotional intelligence contributes to the development of leadership qualities such as flexibility, creativity, strategic thinking, and the ability to maintain emotional stability in crisis situations. In conclusion, the article emphasizes that developing EI in students is a crucial aspect of their preparation for leadership roles in various areas of life.
