Abstract. Modern research shows that vocabulary acquisition improves when learners encounter different contexts. Learning is also facilitated by the use of vocabulary in meaningful speaking and writing activities. This article describes a number of techniques used in a systematic approach to vocabulary learning and the rationale for their application.
