Abstract. The rapid development of digital technologies has transformed the ways people use English in everyday communication, education, and professional environments. Social media platforms, online translation services, and artificial intelligence (AI)-mediated communication tools have become important components of contemporary linguistic practice. These technologies influence vocabulary choice, grammatical structures, communication styles, multilingual interaction, and the development of language skills. This article examines how digital communication environments shape real language use, focusing on three interconnected areas: social media, online translation, and AI-mediated communication. Drawing on research in sociolinguistics, digital discourse, machine translation, and language education, the article discusses both the opportunities and the challenges associated with these technologies. It argues that digital tools can expand access to English, facilitate intercultural communication, and support writing development, while also creating risks related to contextual misunderstanding, overreliance on automated assistance, privacy, and reduced independent language production. The article concludes that effective digital English communication requires critical digital literacy, contextual awareness, and a balanced relationship between technological assistance and human linguistic competence.

Keywords: digital English, social media, online translation, artificial intelligence, AI-mediated communication, digital literacy, English language use, multilingualism.
