OSTEOPAROSIS AND THE ENDOCRINE SYSTEM

Abstract. Osteoporosis is common in the elderly, and bone microfracture occurs mainly in women and men over 50 and 70 years of age. The purpose of this article is to study the effect of changes in the endocrine system (thyroid gland, adrenal gland, pituitary gland, sex glands) on the locomotor system. Studies have shown that the increase in TSH and the increase in hormones produced by the thyroid gland in the body have a protective effect on bone mass. A decrease in sex hormones (testosterone, estrogen) and vitamin D and an increase in cortisol, thyroid hormone, and follicle-stimulating hormone have led to a decrease in bone mass.
