Abstract. In this article, it is emphasized that sports organizations (federations) should pay special attention to the selection of athletes for the formation of the national team, not only the athlete's talent, physiological and physical condition, but also his mental state, character, and temperament should be paid a certain amount of attention. We will consider this process on the example of archery, which is an Olympic sport.
