Abstract. Proverbs are linguistic material that allows one to give a public assessment of the past and present, including self-assessment of a person’s behavior in different life situations. Proverbs and sayings are unity, a synthesis of speech culture and, in general, the spiritual life of the Russian people. Folk proverbs reflect folk wisdom and national mentality in a very condensed form. In this article we will look at the names of persons in proverb texts.
